Product Overview

ASTM A179 Extruded Finned Tubes are high-performance heat transfer components manufactured from ASTM A179 seamless low-carbon steel tubes with an extruded aluminum fin sleeve mechanically bonded to the base tube. The extrusion process forms a solid, continuous fin structure that provides excellent thermal conductivity, superior mechanical strength, and long-term corrosion resistance.

Compared with conventional wound finned tubes, extruded fin tubes offer enhanced fin-to-tube contact, improved heat transfer efficiency, and exceptional durability in demanding industrial environments. These finned tubes are widely used in air-cooled heat exchangers, fin fan coolers, economizers, waste heat recovery units, power generation facilities, petrochemical plants, HVAC systems, and process cooling equipment.

Manufacturing Process

The extruded finned tube is produced by first fitting an aluminum sleeve over the ASTM A179 base tube. Special extrusion rollers then plastically deform the outer aluminum layer, creating fins while simultaneously forming an intimate mechanical bond with the steel tube underneath.

This process creates:

  • Minimal thermal resistance.
